Many people may wonder, what is the core purpose of coating the surface of ceramic substrates with a layer of special red ink during industrial precision machining?

 

In fact, this is a crucial step before laser cutting/drilling precision ceramics (such as alumina and aluminum nitride substrates). The core purpose is positioning and protection. The pigment is mostly acrylic or epoxy-based and does not change the substrate material.

 

Main functions:

Improved positioning contrast: The high contrast between light-colored ceramics (such as white/light gray alumina) and the red coating facilitates visual positioning and automatic CCD recognition, reducing drilling/cutting deviations, achieving an accuracy of ±0.02mm.

 

Protection and slag removal: Reduces edge chipping and micro-cracks during drilling; auxiliary gas more easily removes debris; the coating can be removed after processing by cleaning or high-temperature sintering without affecting the performance of the ceramic substrate.
