Zirconia ceramic, with the chemical formula ZrO₂, is a high-performance structural ceramic material widely used in industries such as manufacturing, medical technology, electronics, and aerospace due to its excellent mechanical properties, high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility.

Main Components:High-purity zirconia is white. If impurities or colorants are added, it may appear yellow, gray, or other colors.

Material Properties:
High Strength: Zirconia ceramics exhibit the highest fracture toughness among all oxide ceramics.

High Hardness: With a Mohs hardness of 8.5, they are suitable for manufacturing wear-resistant parts such as bearings, cutting tools, and nozzles.

High Temperature Resistance:With a melting point of approximately 2700°C, it maintains excellent structural stability at elevated temperatures, making it ideal for use as a refractory material or high-temperature structural component.

Excellent Chemical Stability:It exhibits strong corrosion resistance to acids, alkalis, and molten metals.

Excellent Biocompatibility:Non-toxic, non-magnetic, and non-conductive, it features outstanding compatibility with human tissues and is widely used in biomedical applications such as dental implants and artificial joints.

Low Thermal Conductivity & High Insulation:As an excellent electrical insulator, it exhibits oxygen ion conductivity and transforms into an ionic conductor at high temperatures. This unique property makes it ideal for manufacturing oxygen sensors and electrolyte materials in solid oxide fuel cells.

Why is it particularly suitable for laser processing?
Extreme hardness: Difficult to machine with mechanical drills; prone to breakage and chipping.
High brittleness: Cracking easily occurs during traditional mechanical processing.
Non-conductive: Cannot be processed using electrical discharge machining (EDM).
